Polygonal Modeling

Polygonal Modeling Introduction
These are some useful tools that i usually used in polygonal modeling technique, such as how to use selection, connect, snap, extrude, cut, Target weld, Subdivision Surfaces, and cap. hopefully it's easy to understand

1. Editable Poly

Editable Poly is an editable object with five sub-object levels: vertex, edge, border, polygon, and element. there is 2 ways to activate this editable poly options.
  • Select Object > Right Click > Convert to > Convert to editable Poly

  • Select Object > Modify Panel > Right Click > Convert to Editable Poly

2.  Selection
  • Vertex Selection, use this tool to select vertex and move, detele, and adding line with "Cut"
  • Edge Selection, use this tool to select one or some Edges, then you can move & rotate, delete, conect, and weld those edges.

  • Border Selection, use this tool to select the border, then you can extrude the Edges quickly ( Editable poly > Border selection > Select object > pul backward )

  • Polygon selection, use this tool to select the polygon, then you can delete, extrude, insert, etc

  • Element Selection, use this tool to select the entire object, then you can easily move, copy, rotate, or delete the object.

3. Connect
it's very usefull tool that we can use to add new line in beetween  edges. go to Modify panel > Editable poly > Edge Selection > Right Click > Connect, also you can use "Connect" Button.

4. Extrude Edge
Go to Modify panel > Editable poly > Edge Selection > Select one edge or more > Press "Shiff" on your keyboard + drag )

5.Cut
Go to Modify panel > Editable poly > Vertex Selection > Cut > Click First point > Click second point.

6.Target Weld
First thing before you can weld 2 object, you must "Attach" them into single object.
  • Select First Object > Attach > click second object
  •  Go to modify panel > Editable Poly > Edge Selection > Target Weld > Click First Edge > Click Second Edge.
  •  Here The result after we join 2 Edges with "Target Weld"

7. Subdivision Surfaces
  •  Use Nurms Subdivision, Select Object > Go to Modify panel > Editable Poly > Editable poly Rollout/scroll down the panel > Subdivision Surface > Use Nurm Subdivision, set the iteration 2 or more, to get the smooth result.

  • Mesh Smooth, Select Object, Go to Modify panel > Modifier List > Mesh Smooth >
set the iteration 2 or more.

  • TurboSmooth, Select Object, Go to Modify panel > Modifier List > TurboSmooth >
set the iteration 2 or more.

  •  OpenSubdiv Modifier, Select Object, Go to Modify panel > Modifier List > OpenSubdiv >
set the iteration 2 or more.
8. Cap
if you accidentally delete the polygon, you can easily bring back the face using "Cap" , Select the object > Go to Modify panel > Editable Poly > Border Selection > Select the hole > Right Click > Cap.

  1. Laser engraving can improve the efficiency of engraving, make the surface smooth and smooth, rapidly reduce the temperature of the carved non-metal materials, and reduce the deformation and internal stress of the carved objects. It can be widely used in the field of a fine carving of various non-materials.
